Launching CryptoPortraits - Edition 1 of 1 AI-Generated Portraits on the Blockchain

Today we're launching CryptoPortraits - Edition 1 of 1 AI-Generated Portraits on the Blockchain.

The first 16 tokens just came to life and are now available at the CryptoPortraits Store on OpenSea.

Each portrait is generated/created with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and comes as a unique Digital Edition 1 of 1.

Besides a (first given) name (taking place as the title), the first generation CryptoPortraits are coming with the following properties (still working on making these visible at the OpenSea Storefront):

  • Gender
  • Occupation
  • Special Traits (yes or no)

The portraits came to life with the help of a small Character Design Team at PROOFofARTWORK. By the way: The project is open for submissions by other designers and artists who are using AI for character design. (Please contact us if you're interested in contributing to the project.)

Using Top Notch Technology for The Tokenization of the CryptoPortraits

The CryptoPortraits tokens are based on the Ethereum Blockchain, the by far most advanced and widely adopted blockchain technology that is able to handle smart contracts to date. The tokens are Non-Fungible-Tokens and are based on the ERC721 standard

ERC-721 is a free, open standard that describes how to build non-fungible or unique tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. While most tokens are fungible (every token is the same as every other token), ERC-721 tokens are all unique.

Think of them like rare, one-of-a-kind collectables.

The CryptoPortraits are tokenized with an own Smart Contract, that has been deployed using the Pixura Technology. That's also the technology behind the leading CryptoArt Platform SuperRare (that currently celebrates one sales record after another by the way). Another reason why we've chosen Pixura Technology for this project is, that they handle the metadata of the token in a special way (using the Interplanetary File System Technology (IPFS). IPFS is "A peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol designed to make the web faster, safer, and more open."

Even though IPFS isn't perfect yet, at least we think that is the best option to date, to make the metadata of a Non-Fungible-Token immutable to a certain degree, which is not given when the token's metadata is hosted in a traditional way, at one of the big cloud storage providers for example.

If you want to learn more about how this works in detail, please read: How CryptoArt works. Technically.

What's Next

Anyway, we will be releasing new CryptoPortraits from time to time. There are also some more ideas, but these ideas are still too early to share.

We set up a Projects Page for this project. There you can find an embedded store where you can buy the portraits. Besides that we will use this page to collect and share all informations and updates regarding the project.

Please also consider signing up for our occasionally send no-bullshit newsletter if you haven't yet, as major updates and token-releases will be shared there as well. (This will also give you the possibility to claim some $RDR btw.)

Virtual Cryptoportraits Exhibition

In the Virtual Reality World Cryptovoxels you can find the "CryptoPortraits Show Room", that is hosted in the (yet to be officially launched) Creativity Promotion Center. >> Straight to the Exhibition
